New Jammers call out!

Expressions of Interest requested for New Jammers @TheGlasgowJam is delighted to announce it has been awarded Creative Scotland funding to run its upcoming New Jammers Programme. The programme allows for up to eight participants to work over four months in a supportive environment to question, challenge and grow as multi-disciplinary jam facilitators. The mentorship project will meet once a month between March and June, and end with a group lead jam and open discussion, lead by Penny Chivas, with support from Tom Pritchard.  We are excited to open our programme to a further two jammers to join our existing base of six. "Falling into Flying" Workshop We're really excited that Mary Pearson is up to lead a workshop during DIG!  Saturday 25th April, 2.30-5.30pm at Tramway. £20 More details and booking through us: theglasgowjam@gmail.com Practicing fundamentals of Contact Improvisation with a concentration on blissful falling. Falling off one's own vertical axis, using the air and the floor to experiment with momentum and gravity, and falling into a partner using a shared axis. We will practice 'reading' the changing negative space around our partners, compressing and expanding the space between us as we dance into and out of contact.  Tuning into the frequent and natural changes of speed and tone, we will find more dynamic surprises in our dancing. In this movement inquiry, yielding is our starting point from where we can move out into space. Some further questions can be explored: + Does yielding our physical substance to gravity offer a pathway for resting in ourselves while interacting with others through movement? + And what does it do to our moving bodies and the way we communicate with each other when we resist an ever present force that invites us to yield?
