@TheGlasgowJam May Newsletter

Dear Jammers,

Lets be honest, things have been a bit up and down here @TGJ.

On Wednesday 20 April, we hosted a special event to celebrate visual arts in Glasgow, as the International Festival took place around the city. We welcomed 22 creative and curious people who created magical moments of music, movement, visual arts and just good old playfulness. It was amazing and we thank you for your generosity.

We also welcomed our new volunteer Kai Wen Chuang, who, together with Nina, is helping us to run the jams smoothly. We really don’t know what we would do without them. Apart from experienced movers, they help everyone feel welcome, which for us is so important.

On the down side, we have had to take a drastic decision as the last few jams have been very poorly attended: we decided to cancel all the jams in June apart from the Global Underscore on the 19 June, to help us minimise our losses. We released a statement on our blog and social media here:

We are making an appeal for help: donations, commitment to attending the jam, bringing a friend, volunteering, anything in kind … If you can help us, please do. Our work to the community is very important to us but also we cannot work without our community’s help. Please get involved!

We are planning a very exciting event as part of the Global Underscore on Sunday 19 June at Kinning Park Complex. Penny will explain the underscore at 2.30 and we will run it from 3 to 7pm, at the same time as many others around the world. All that for £10! If you have never done an underscore, you will see what a magical atmosphere it creates and you will get guidance from Penny. Come and experience this unique event. More details here:

We still have a few gorgeous green @TGJ t-shirts, as well as some aubergine ones left. These are the last of our stock and won’t last long, so get your orders processed by emailing theglasgowjam@gmail.com. Only £15!

The next jams are listed below and, if you need to plan more ahead, we have our full May–December 2016 programme on our website: http://theglasgowjam.blogspot.co.uk/p/jam-calendar.html). Lets jam together soon!

Much love,

Penny and Laura x
